Tree Glitch and Refresh Shortage

Postby X_TheLegend27_X » Tue Aug 22, 2017 8:42 am

When the climate changes back from Lordaeron Winter to Lordaeron Fall, the trees sometimes become Invincible all throug out the map, which makes it Impossible to harvest lumber.
------------------------
Also, the wait time in the lobby to search for WW Transylvania is far too long due to a severe refresh shortage. Now, I know you can add FBot to your friend list to find the current hosted game, but newcomers and the mayority of the players don't... This advantualy leads to less people being able to find Werewolf Transylvania and a longer waiting time for people who are able to find it (Including me).

Possible ways to solve this problem with refresh shortage are:
1. to increase the number of refreshes to once every 30-35 seconds to 10-20 seconds.
2. to periodicaly show a text message in-game and in the lobby that suggests you add FBot to your friendlist to find the current hosted game easyer.
3. to simply put !refreshon automatically, but make FBot somehow hide the many messages of 'Refreshing game...'

Thanks for reading,

We shall investigate this. Can you provide a replay and time when this occurred?

Well, there are two procedures in BattleNet which do similar things. First is "refresh", this is simply pinging to the server that bot is still waiting for players and its called "refresh messages" on Ghost++ bot engine which we are using. Our games are being refreshed every 3 seconds without showing the message in lobby (its super annoying if we turn it on - you can imagine that spam) - exactly what you suggested in #3.

Second is called "rehost", which sends command to the server about the NEW game that bot just made (technically, its the same game, we just changed the name) and this causes the game to appear at the top of the list in custom games on BattleNet.
Our bot rehosts the game every 2 minutes. We find this time sufficient enough for players to be able to join by typing game name manually yet keeping it in the top of the list.

We do have announce message that encourages people to use our Bot Status Page to copy name and check running games. http://bot.vofpro.com/
This is much more useful than adding bot to the friends because if the bot name changes, you won’t be able to see name of the lobby. Yet you don’t see other information such as filling and launched games.

Also, there is Daily Peak graph on the bot page that you can use to plan your games. Right now (at the time this message was posted) is the lowest population on the bot according to our 1.5 year statistics. If you want quick lobby filling, you should consider playing at a different time when there are more players online using that graph. It shows your local time according to your browser settings.
