The idea of the zombie isn't to give the werewolf an ally, but to give players a second chance to cause some mischief.

They can decide for themselves if they want to work in conjunction with the werewolf to kill the villagers, to help the villagers kill the werewolf, or to cause chaos and mayhem as they see fit.

Like you said, its all about the freedom to do as you please. We never wanted to force people to help the player who just murdered them. :wink:
