That is completely true but it doesn't seem like Jesse wants to put in the effort to learn a new programming language which is why I suggested something that already exists. I would love to see the game become independent but it won't happen if there is no effort being exerted.

Are you saying that Java (which is Minecraft modding) exists while both C (which Java originates from) and machine code (which all languages compile to) do not? Also, transferring from JASS in wc3 to C is much easier than to Java because JASS is almost exactly the same as C.

I was wondering if you have thought about Dota 2 engine for now that it has official mapping tools. They aren't fully featured yet if I recall correctly but maybe you guys should keep your eyes on them at least. The player base of dota is bigger than WC3's and workshop could help promote the WW:T. Also the "matchmaking" would work by searching for a lobby with a password, say "WW:T" or such, and it would show all lobbies with that password. Just a thought.

Ah minecraft... I remember when it first came out

It was a nice friday lunch time, early finshes back then on fridays, so i went home after some lunch. Sat down and downloaded the client and thought I'd play for a couple of hours because it was just starting to be popular at this point, had to find out all the fuss. about an hour or so in I was quite hungry so I went to the kitchen where it was very dark outside, looking at the clock it said around 2am. I thought to myself 'well quick snack and then bed'
woke up saturday morning and had a nice and big breakfast, then went back on minecraft, once again after a few hours or so, my hunger got the best of me and off to the kitchen I went where it was light outside, also monday morning...

Since that monday that I skipped course due to sleep, Ive never played MC since. it no longer interests me

I am monitoring the Dota 2 situation. If you mess around with Google some you'll see that people want some version of it somewhere.

1) Google a phrase with quotes
2) Google his email
3) Google his IP

All 3 point to a bot. Step it up Jesse it isn't rocket science.

To necro another old thread...

Unity is a nice free platform that is fairly easy to pickup. There are tons and tons of resources for unity (snippets, models, and even textures) and C++ is VERY easy to learn if you've worked with vJass for a while.

Unity uses C# not C++.

Unreal Engine 4 uses C++.

Both are relatively free.
