Heya!
Falanor has a bot that auto hosts 24/7. You can view a thread on the forums that contain details about the bot in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=777

Hey! I’ve used a combination of classic ghost++ (http://www.ghostpp.com) with entghost (https://github.com/uakfdotb/ent-ghost) bot. Yet I added some custom adjustments. And still adding them actually.
For autohosting on ghost++ you can use special option in ghost.cfg file (or default.cfg)

Code: Select all

#way to your map config file
bot_defaultmap = your_map_config_file

#how namy games bot should host at maximum
autohost_maxgames = 3

#amount of players in lobby to autostart
autohost_startplayers = 8

#name of the game i lobby
autohost_gamename = name of the game in lobby

#owner of the game (who can use "owner" commands)
autohost_owner = your_name

Here is example from my bot settings:

Code: Select all

bot_defaultmap = werewolf126.cfg
autohost_maxgames = 7
autohost_startplayers = 8
autohost_gamename = Werewolf Transylvania
autohost_owner = FBot

Will I need to have my computer on all the time for the bot to auto host all the time?

Will I need an additional CD key for the bot?

Also, how long/difficult is it to set it up? Is it user friendly?

Thanks for the reply. :)

Yes, if you want your games to run 24/7, then you need your computer up all the time since it will be the host and if you stop it, all players will be disconnected.

You can use one CD key per server, so you can host on 4 official servers at once using just a single key. If you are setting it up in your local network, you will be able to join your bot games via LAN. If not, then yes, you will need to use another CD key for that.

Yet you need to have public IP and forward your ports.

How easy (or not) depends on your computer skills. I had some troubles while trying to set everything up but there are many guides in the web that can help you solve any problems. Here is official bot guide:
https://www.ghostpp.com/wiki/index.php? ... figuration

If you are familiar with programming, it should not be too hard. I’m using Linux bot since it’s easier to compile after each change. There are few compiled versions for windows, it may be easier for you to use.

EDIT: Moved topic to "General Discussion" since it is more suitable here and not connected to Werewolf Transylvania map.

I am using my own home media server for that. 4 running games use only 10% of its performance, so it’s quite suitable. Wc3 bots don’t need much, I think you can easily run it on a mobile phone these days.

It has AMD Athlon 5350 processor with 4 Gb of RAM. Lan is 100/100 Mbits (In/Out)
